Mission Statement

To create a platform that provides young professionals in Eastern CT with positive opportunities upon which to build professional networks, social relationships and engage in volunteer activities that enrich and improve the economic vitality and quality of life of our community.

Purpose

To enrich the community by providing business, networking and volunteer opportunities to support the career development and personal choices of young professionals, and to promote the qualities that make Eastern CT an attractive place for young professionals to live, work and play.

Benefits of Membership

As a YPECT member you are not just adding an organization to your resume.  You are making an initiative to get involved and make a difference in the Eastern CT community.  YPECT makes it easy for your voice to be heard by providing numerous benefits to you:

• Networking with other young professionals at monthly events.
• Meeting with prominent business and philanthropic leaders.
• Develop professional skills through YPECT programming.
• An opportunity to get involved and connect with the community.

What qualifies as a Young Professional?

Let’s look at the two words separately to provide some better context:

• Young: Anyone who feels that they are still young is qualified. Typically the term “young professional” indicates that they are between 22-45, but obviously folks a bit under or over that range can benefit by becoming a member.
• Professional: Many of YP’s members work in a professional setting and also includes artists, service workers, the self-employed, entrepreneurs, students, and everything in between.

YPECT Organizational Structure

The Young Professionals of Eastern CT (YPECT) of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut offers social networking, professional development, and opportunities to give back for ambitious young professionals.

Membership in YPECT will help you improve your career, develop your leadership abilities, build your network, and give back to the community of eastern Connecticut.

Our members don’t just come to YPECT events to trade business cards and walk away. This is a place where young professionals meet to build lasting friendships, working relationships, share ideas and invest in the future of eastern Connecticut.

Networking

Networking is a key component of the YPECT Network. Each month, young professionals will gather at these informal meetings to conduct business, make new contacts and develop leads that add to their bottom line.  At monthly events hosted in some of eastern Connecticut’s premier hot spots, you’ll have an opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and share common interests with your peers in a fun environment.




Professional Development

Now is the time to invest in yourself and your career. Building on the success of previous professional development seminars, YPECT hosts quarterly skills-building workshops.




Giving Back

Young Professionals Network members are encouraged to participate in a variety of volunteer options. Quarterly, YPECT members will volunteer in the community for 4 hours (locations determined based on need and decided upon by YPECT steering committee).  This serves as not only a chance to give back to our community, but to build lasting relationships within it.
