Located in Old Lyme, the JLN Safety Training Center is strengthening Connecticut’s workforce by redefining how safety education is delivered. Serving businesses, municipalities, and emergency responders throughout New London County and the entire shoreline, JLN is built on one guiding belief: safety training is most effective when it is realistic, hands-on, and grounded in real-world experience.

A Business Built on Real Needs

The JLN Safety Training Center was created after decades of firsthand experience working alongside power plants, utilities, construction crews, and emergency responders across the state. Over time, the team identified a clear gap between traditional classroom-based safety instruction, and the high-risk environments workers actually face every day.

Instead of relying solely on lectures and slide decks, JLN invested in an immersive safety training facility, where participants can practice skills, problem-solve, and build confidence in realistic conditions—before encountering these hazards in the field. The goal was never rapid growth or flashy expansion, but rather purposeful development rooted in community impact.

Local Roots, National Recognition

By choosing Connecticut as home, JLN made a deliberate investment in the local economy and workforce development. Today, the center proudly serves organizations throughout many southeastern towns, while remaining deeply committed to its regional community.

That commitment and expertise have earned national recognition. JLN Safety Training Center is one of only 34 facilities in the United States accepted into the NFPA Authorized Education Network—and notably, the only NFPA-authorized training center in CT. While teams from across the country train here, JLN continues to prioritize the needs of local employers and first responders.

Safety Training That Goes Beyond Compliance

One of JLN’s cornerstone offerings is NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training, delivered in a fully immersive, hands-on environment. Designed for electricians, utility workers, and maintenance teams, this training helps participants develop sound judgment and decision-making skills when working around energized electrical systems.

The center also provides confined space rescue teams and specialized high-risk training for firefighters, construction crews, and utility professionals. These programs combine practical instruction with real-world rescue capability—ensuring crews are prepared not just to meet regulations, but to respond effectively in emergencies.

In recognition of National Electrical Safety Month each May, JLN delivers electrician-focused electrical safety training in Connecticut, complemented by open-enrollment CPR, First Aid, and AED courses that strengthen emergency preparedness beyond the job site.

Passion Driven by People and Progress

What truly sets JLN Safety Training Center apart is its passion for continuously evolving safety education. The team of experienced safety and rescue professionals is always developing new scenarios, refining hands-on environments, and adapting training to mirror real field conditions.

That innovation is supported by a strong internal culture focused on mentorship, shared experience, and continuous learning. JLN believes the best safety training comes from professionals who are committed not only to standards—but to developing the next generation of skilled, confident workers right here in Connecticut.

For fellow small businesses, JLN’s journey offers a simple takeaway: build your business around real needs, invest in quality and community, and grow with intention. When you do meaningful work close to home, long-term success follows.
