This past week, a large-scale event highlighted the power of partnerships. Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region, Connecticut Procurement and Technical Assistance, and the State of Connecticut Department of Community and Economic Development partnered with General Dynamics Electric Boat for this first-ever “matchmaking” event, bringing potential suppliers in contact with procurement personnel from seven New England Divisions of General Dynamics. “Leading the Way,” held at the Mystic Marriott, was also a day filled with opportunities for networking, trainings, and information sessions.
According to The Day, the event attracted over 250 companies from 11 states to look at doing business in our region. The quality of the outreach was felt by attendees at the event who came away having made valuable contacts at General Dynamics as well as with other people in complementary industries.
The power of the event was evident, and the power of the partnerships contributing to its success is equally inspiring. A list of partners includes 14 organizations who worked together to support this forward-looking approach to economic development and promotion of the region. The Chamber was proud to have contributed. It is a model for the level of success the region can achieve through strong partnerships achieved by identifying common goals and tapping far-reaching resources.
Kudos to all those involved for Leading the Way in utilizing the strength of the region’s many organizations to build the industry’s network of suppliers.
