On June 30, the Chamber hosted a zoom call with Town of Groton Mayor Patrice Granatosky and Paige Bronk, AICP, Economic and Community Development Manager. Mayor Granatosky commented on the strength of cornerstone businesses that position Groton well in the a difficult economy, such as Electric Boat’s new contract from the Navy,  while recognizing small businesses’ need for extra support, which the town is providing through its economic development initiatives.

Paige Bronk described resources and outreach to local businesses to help them navigate state regulations and federal programs. Resources are outlined at the town’s economic development website, Explore More Groton. Mr. Bronk painted a picture of COVID-19’s impact on the region based on surveys conducted through his department. The Town of Groton moved quickly to help small businesses reopen with accommodations like outdoor dining and offered informational webinars and resources.
