Farmtrue focuses on better living through better self-care

When your business philosophy is truly rooted in your philosophy of life, that passion is expressed in everything you do.  Kim Welch and Lynn Goodwin met when their desire to eat, sleep, feel, and live better led them both to the study of Ayurvedic Living. This 5,000 year old system of health and healing not only changed their lives and the wellbeing of their families, it inspired them to share good health with others.

Farmtrue in North Stonington produces honest and simple products that promote optimal sleep, digestion, and energy, the three governing pillars of good health. Kim and Lynn started Farmtrue with ghee as it is foundational in Ayurveda with tremendous health benefits.  It’s one of the strongest carrier oils, helping to bring nutrients from the foods we eat deeper into the tissues of the body.  Ghee is a source of Butyric Acid which promotes good digestion and elimination by keeping the gut lining healthy and protected while also calming inflammation.  When used on skin, it helps keep you hydrated and protected from environmental stressors.

Ghee is a healthy, high-heat cooking oil rich in nutritional value and delicious taste made by slow-cooking grass-fed butter and removing all of the lactose, casein, and moisture. The result is a lactose-free, paleo, shelf-stable oil, perfect for the health-conscious cook.  Complementing the many flavors of ghee are spice blends, teas, and lattes, all designed for digestive health and strengthened immunity.

“It’s so amazing that there’s this simplistic medical science that can help us feel empowered in our own health,” said Lynn.

Sharing that message led Kim and Lynn to a spot on Dr. John Douillard’s LifeSpa podcast in March to talk about all things Ghee and Farmtrue.  LifeSpa is one of the country’s leading resources on all things Ayurveda and has helped connect Farmtrue with a larger community, new customers, and other opportunities.

For feeling great inside and out, Farmtrue recently relaunched their line of body care products that aligns with the seasons. Formulated to ground, revive, and refresh, the three lines of ghee skincare infused with essential oils and herbs feature body oil, butter, scrub, and soap for an all over feeling of wellbeing.

Grown on one of North Stonington’s oldest farms, herbs such as tulsi basil, calendula, and lemongrass are found in the Smudge, Nourish Stick, and Ghee Soap. Beginning in 2016, Farmtrue established its manufacturing, distribution, retail facilities, and gardens at 81 Norwich Westerly Road.

“The thing I get the most excited about is the opportunity to help other people feel what Lynn and I felt when we started on our Ayurvedic paths to better living,” said Kim. Farmtrue provides education, inspiration, and tools, building a community of good health.

Inviting people to join the movement and discover more, Farmtrue hosts a variety of educational workshops, held virtually during COVID. Also, a wealth of information is available on Farmtrue.com on ghee, nutrition, self-care, and Ayurveda.

“Learning about Ayurveda showed me that there is a reason behind the way our bodies work and what we can do naturally to help take care of it, heal it, and sooth it,” said Kim.
