Thank you to Congressman Joe Courtney for visiting the Chamber’s Regional Innovation Center on February 22. Courtney met with small businesses currently operating out of the Center.
A Center tour was led by Chamber President and CEO, Tony Sheridan, who welcomed the Congressman, Mayor Michael Passero, and Elizabeth Nocera of the City of New London Economic Development Department. The purpose of the meet and greet was to highlight the wide range of organizations currently housed at the Regional Innovation Center and give them the opportunity to ask the Congressman questions.
Discussions included housing affordability, small and minority business resources, and an update on Washingon activities. Additionally, the Congressman addressed A broad range of other topics of interest to the group. Occupants expressed their enthusiasm for the new Center and how it will be beneficial to the region.
Among the group were representatives of theADNL/Asociación de Dominicanos de New London, The Black Business Alliance, HEDCO/Business Resource Center, Habitat for Humanity, and Lee Couture Financial, LLC. Other occupants of the Center include John Bashaw Law, LLC., Minority Construction Council, Inc., and the Human Resources Consortium.
As the Center’s private offices are reaching maximum capacity, the new focus of the Center is leasing co-working space to entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as providing resources and programs for the local and regional business community. Parties who are interested in starting a new business are encouraged to tour the center during business hours.
