June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ community. Here in Eastern Connecticut, we have an array of events and resources to make this month special and to support and uplift the community all year long. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here are some upcoming events and resources to help you celebrate Pride Month with us.

Live Out Loud Foxwoods

Pride on Parade Plaza
June 20, 6 PM
Start with a vigil for BIPOC trans, non-binary, and queer lives on the steps of City Hall, followed by the raising of the Progressive Pride Flag. Then, walk down to Parade Plaza for a celebration with a DJ, food trucks, and information booths.

Pride at the Beach – 2024 New London Pride
Saturday, August 10 • 6 PM – 7 PM
Join Southeastern Connecticut’s leading pride festival at Ocean Beach Park. Enjoy a day of festivities and show your pride.

Pride Flag Ceremony
Tuesday, June 25 at 12pm
at the Hammond Mansion
Reflection on the history of the Pride flag, a moment of silence to honor those who have fought for LGBTQ+ rights, ceremonial raising of the flag, and a ribbon-tying ceremony to symbolize unity support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Talent Show
Saturday, June 29 at 9pm (after performance)
at Blue Gene’s Pub
Hosted by the fabulous Drag Queen Summer Orlando Talented O’Neill staff will showcase their skills on the outdoor stage of Eugene’s Pub, accompanied by a selection of Pride cocktails and queer-themed table games.

Pride Month Booklist
As the rights and safety of LGBTQ+ people are continuously attacked, it’s more important than ever to share and uplift queer and trans stories. Check out a curated list by the staff at Bank Square Books.

Open Agenda
Open Agenda is Bank Square Book’s Queer little free library. This is a selection of pre-purchased, Queer-friendly books that anyone can take home. You can donate to Open Agenda to help provide accessible queer books for those who need it.
