On June 13, the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Foundation awarded four high school seniors scholarships for college. Heading to ECSU in the fall, Alyssa Milette, Griswold High School, will be studying education and psychology, and Chloe Chenot, Stonington High School, will be exploring several areas before choosing a major. Graduates of Norwich Free Academy, Jayleigh Tefft will study nursing at CCSU and Saphira Dorelus will pursue the same at Three Rivers Community College. The scholarships were presented by Lou Ziegler, Chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation.
The four annual scholarships of $1,250 meet the Foundation’s goal to enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities for the region’s rising workforce by providing financial assistance to promising high school seniors in the Chamber service area.
The foundation selects scholarship recipients based on a variety of criteria including academic persistence, community involvement and service, career interest, and financial need. High school seniors who are continuing their education by attending college or a technical, vocational, or apprenticeship program are eligible to apply.
