The Holiday Shopping Trail is a fun way to shop local and win prizes. It’s also a great way to explore the region and discover new shops, restaurants and downtown destinations.

We have mapped out routes for a fun and full day of holiday shopping, with treats for you to enjoy along the way. Don’t forget your passport as you…

In Stonington, head to the borough for shopping at the charming Water Street shops Carolyn Yost Estate Jewelry & Stonington Antiques, Black Orchid Jewelry and Stonington Jewelry. The Velvet Mill is a renovated factory packed with fun shops and eateries. Before you shop, sip latte at Social Espresso Bar, nibble a pastry from Zest, or sip an ale at Beer’d Brewing (depending on the time of day you start shopping). Visit Indigo Elephant among the many stores in the mill.

The Velvet Mill hosts a farmers and artisan market on December 14 and while you are in the area, head up to North Stonington to the Country Wellness Center’s Holiday Winter Market that day with their usual Native American art and jewelry along with local vendors. Just down the road is FarmTrue, selling their own brand of Ghee, tea, spices and selfcare products as well as items from local artisans.

If the perfect gift has eluded you, visit Stonington Vineyards for the welcome gift of a bottle (or case) of wine.

Head across state lines to the charming downtown of Westerly. Melissa Ashley Brides offers a truly boutique experience following a holiday proposal or in preparation for a gala.

Engage in the spirit of giving while gaining some great bargains at the Jonnycake Center. The thrift store supports the work of social service agency, and with great donations coming in daily, there are some fantastic finds.

The last stop is one to savor. Savoy Bookshop & Café is the place to shop and linger over a locally sourced coffee, tea, or kombucha and find a great book to read or give.
